Services offered

The Company's range of services grew out of the specific needs of a professional, customer base. Air freight forwarders, airplane operators, corporate traffic departments, physical distribution and purchasing executives, couriers, governmental agencies, IATA agents, domestic and international airlines made up that base, and collectively have varied and demanding air cargo requirements. A brief description of the services designed to accommodate their requirements follows:

Scheduled Cargo Services

Prime Domestic Air Freight: Designed for air freight forwarders and corporate shippers who wished to move domestic shipments overnight. Although prime domestic service concentrated on hard freight (the average shipment was over 400 pounds), the Company offered an express shipment service (up to 60 pounds), called SNAP (Summit Nighttime Advanced Priority) for shipments which was common-rated throughout the system.

International Service: Designed for international carriers, IATA agents, and other shippers of international air cargo. International service concentrated on handling the many details which international shipments require including U.S. inland transportation, interline transfers, customs clearance, limited warehousing, and clearing house billing. International shipments ranged from minimum shipments to M-l and M-2 containers.

Road Feeder Service (RFS): Designed for air freight forwarders and corporate shippers use for those shipments where price rather than time is of the essence. Road Feeder Service was a scheduled, terminal-to-terminal service. In some short-haul markets, delivery was overnight. In medium-haul markets, Road Feeder Service rivaled the performance of passenger carrier belly freight service at lower cost to the customer. RFS shipments were tendered in bulk or in containers, and in weights ranging from one pound to more than 5,000 pounds (shipments in excess of 10,000 pounds were routinely routed on exclusive trucks).
